MISCELLANEOUS CABLES.

A Hobart cable states that the attempt to release the cage from the North Mt. Lyell mine and secure the body failed, and the mine has been re-sealed.
At the inquest at Adelaide on the victims of the lighthouse tragedy, an open verdict was returned. The Coroner did not deal with the nautical points involved. In the House of Commons, replying to Mr Archer Shee, Mr Samuel (Post-master-General) admitted having received the Commonwealth’s despatch complaining of. the insufficiency of cable concessions announced last April, and suggesting calling a subsidiary conference. Mr Samuel said that since the despatch further considerable Atlantic reductions had been effected, and they were contemplating new arrangements in the Pacific. Ho .was suspending his reply to the Commonwealth pending the Completion of those arrangements.
