• STRATFORD SHOW. The aim of the Stratford A. and P. Association is to make the Stratford Show the premier dairy show of the Dominion, and there is some indication that this may 7 be attained. Splendid entries arc being received in the cattle classes for the forthcoming show. All the cattle classes are well endowed with prize money, with the addition of numerous special prizes and valuable trophies. The cattle section includes classes for pedigree and grade Jersey Ayrshire, Holstein, Horefords, Shorthorns, also fat cattle, grade or crossbreds for beef, and grade or crossbreds for dairy purposes. A champion gold medal will be given for the best purebred bull and best purebred cow in the pedigree sections. In Class No. 164 for pen of best five grade heifers for dairy, calved since Ist August, 1911, the first prize is scheduled as given by the Ngaire Co-operative Dairy Company, but as the Ngaire Company will not be giving the prize this year, the Association will make the amount good. In the sheep section, classes are scheduled for English Leicesters, Border Leicestcrs, Lincolns, Hampshires, Romney Marsh, Shropshire,' Southdown s, Cheviots, Crossbred Longwools, 1 freezers, fat slieep and lambs. Since the inception of the Stratford Show entries in the sheep classes have steadily increased. A good entry is expected for pigs, classes providing for any variety of purebred pig, including Berkshire::, Yorkshires, and Black Devons. Good competition should bo forthcoming for host pen of throe porkers, between 601 b and 1001 b, best pen of two pigs between 501 b and 1001 b, and best pen of three baconers. Under the head-
ing of dairy produce, prizes will be awarded for box factory butter suitable for export, unsalted butter also suitable for export, fresh salted butter in 21b rolls, butter, in fancy designs, cheese, hams, and bacon. The produce pavillion is now- being nicely fitted' up to display the produce exhibits to the best advantage. General entries dose positively on 21st November.
