Melbourne, November 7

A tragedy 'occurred at Kerrang. The bodies of Mrs Andrews (wife of a dairyman) and her four children, whose ages range from three years to nine, were found in a bedroom with their heads frightfully battered. Andrews’ body was found in the kitchen, shot through the heart.

'Andrews was of a deeply religious temperament and a steward of the Methodist Church. He was suffering from depression (following influenza), and anxiety over monetary matters.

The evidence disclosed that he killed the faifiily with an axe and then shot himself.
