BOXER GUNN’S SUICIDE. (Per Press Association.) Timaru, November 4. At the adjourned inquest on the young boxer named John Gunn, the evidence of his employer and an intimate friend showed that he find been depressed about the decisions given against him in the Australian championships. A verdict of suicide whilst temporarily insane was returned.
I MAN INJURED BY A FALL. Gisborne, November ■!. A mishap occurred at Rakauroa this morning, when a man named Gavigan, engaged in connect On with the construction of the Rakauroa station bridge, fell from the top of the pier, a distace of 40 feet, and, it is feared, sustained internal injury. Gavigan was formerly a sailor aboard the illfated Star of Canada, and after the wreck lie gave up the .-ea, finding employment on tlie railway works two or three months ago. The unfortunate man was brought to town without delay, the Public Works .Department putting on a special train. The man was ( at once removed to the hospital, and is reported to be in a serious condition.
