John Christian, master mariner, who commanded the s.s. Kotuku w hen the vessel was wrecked at Grevmouth, was charged at the Magistrate's Court to-day with attempting suicide by taking ly„ol. It was stated that defendant had recovered as the result of treatment at the hospital, and his friends were prepared to pay the medical costs and get, him a vessel. r <he Magistrate entered up a conviction, and defendant was discharged.
