Horses. In the class for best horse most suitable for a troop horse, Edward Mason (Stratford) secured third prize, as did also E. Jackson’s Barney (Stratford) in harness horses.

In Clydesdales competition was'very keen, some of the best horses in the Dominion being entered. The Clydesdale Challenge Cup was won by Thomson and Co., Wai Rongoa, North Taieri, Mr. E. Short being second. The Champions.

Championships were awarded as follows : Draught Stallion.—Thomson and Co.’s Wairongoa Footprint, by Baron Bold Junior. Draught Mare.—Thomson and Co.’s Baron’s Brilliant, by Baron Bold— Scottish Brilliant.

The pugs were a fairly large section, in which Mrs. Dean (Whangamoinona) got six seconds.
