HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. There was a very fair house at Bernard’s ■ Pictures last evening. On Monday night, included in the complete change, are two “star” dramas,* “The Spider’s Web” is a warning to the unwary, and those who would get rich quick. Graham Lawlor, a banker and financier, is persuaded to invest in the Silver Shield Aline, and became president of the company. ;Harris, Biennen and Lester, the promoters, are frauds. Lawlor sends word to his son, who is a lawyer in a smalt town, and tells him to give up his.practice and take the secretaryship of the company. Trevor, the son, comes to look" things over. He is convinced there is something wrong, refuses the secretaryship / and ' warns his father. His father and he quarrel. Trevor goes back to his practice. Lester, the junior partner in the mine, makes love to his stenofrapher, Brenda Wray, and then casts er off. Ugly rumours get about regarding the stability of the Silver Shield Mine. The others try to throw all the blame for the failure on Lawlor. Ho declares, however, that he has papers in his possession which will exonerate him. They determine to get these incriminating papers. They bribe Lawler’s servant to steal them. The plot is overheard by Brenda, who had visited Lester’s room to demand justice. Trevor comes to town to defend his father. Brenda calls on him and tells him who the thief is. Thompson the servant, is arrested and turns State’s evidence. On his evidence, Lawlor is exonerated, and Brennen, Harris, and Lester are arrested. The other “star” picture is “Dark Feathers’ Strategy” an exciting Indian drama, brimful of interest.
