OUR N.Z. BOYS.
CADETS TO VISIT STRATFORD. Stratford lias boon selected as the centre from which the cadets who have just returned from Canada are to view Taranaki. The boys, twenty in number, have attracted world-wide attention, and their achievement in winning seven out of eight events against the cadets of all countries, is a meritorious one, and of which every New Zealander is justly proud. Under these circumstances, the visit of the victors to Stratford is quite noteworthy. Captain Dampen has just received word that the cadets will arrive in Stratford by Monday’s mail train. His Worship the Mayor will accord the boys a civic reception, and in this connection it may be mentioned that Mr Kirkwood has very generously offered to billot four members of the company. Colonel Malone, Mr Richards, and Mr Crawshaw are other gentlemen who have consented to billet some of the boys, and it is hoped that similar offers will be forthcoming from other citizens.
A reception committee is being formed immediately to make arrangements for the stay, which will ho from Monday till Thursday. Of course the boys will be patrons of “Our Eogiment” on Wednesday evening, when it is hoped that they will give an exhibition of manual and physical drill, A drive to New Plymouth, to the Mountain, etc., will- also figure among the entertainments.
An excellent opportunity is given for local residents to give a display of the hospitality for which Stratford is noted.
