At the Hayrnarkct on Saturday there was a very large attendance. There was a full yarding of pigs and calves were penned in the usual numbers. The market opened with keen competition and prices ruling were in advance of last week. Calves sold at from 2s to 5s per head better than last week for heifers. Quotations Slips and weavers 14s 6d to £1 2s 6d, small stores £1 4s 6d to £1 6s, medium do. £1 9s to £1 14s 6d, good do. up to £1 17s, calves 2s to 12s, cow £ll 10s, horse £6 ss, horse, buggy and harness £ls, quantity timber, chaff and sundries sold well. At the Mart.—Hens Is 9d to 2s 3d, roosters 2s to ss, ducks 3s to 3s 6d, turkeys 8s 6d to 15s, potatoes 11s cwt, White Elephant seed 8s 6d, Up-to-Date seed 9s cwt. Furniture sundries, books, etc., at usual rates. The High Commissioner, cabling from London under date October 22nd, reports:— Bacon.—The market is quieter, but prices are firm on account of the small supply of all descriptions. Irish 70s to 83e, Danish 74s to 83s, Swedish 74s to 81s, Russian 70s to 765, Canadian 74s to 78s. Hams.—The market is firm.
