THE EASTBOURNE TRAGEDY.
(Received 11.20 a.m.) * London, October 22. John Williams has been remanded at Eastbourne on a charge of murdering Inspector Walls at the Countess Sztaray’s house a fortnight ago, when the inspector was summoned to the house to arrest burglars. The evidence is based on the discovery of a hat alleged to belong to Williams ; also a revolver he was seen to bury on the beach, and also his flight to London. The chief witness, Florence Seymour, with whom Williams co-habited, testified that on the night of the tragedy she carried a parcel containing a rope with a hook. Williams left her for half an hour, and when he returned he was hatless. He bade her throw the parcel on the beach.
