The body of a man was found o; tho river beach near Foxton to-day. h has boon identified as that of David Lynn, who was cook on the steam oi Gertie, trading to Foxton, and win. disappeared from the vossol at Foxton some weeks ago. HEART FAILURE.
Dunedin, September 24. - A man named Frederick Booth, aged JO years, died suddenly at 1 p.m. at Ids mother’s place. South Dunedin. Deceased was a machinist, ahd went this morning to take up a position at Reid and Gray’s. On going homo at midday lie complained of feeling unwell, and his mother, gav.q him a drink, but ho immediately started vomiting, and died soon afterwards. Dr. Linden expressed the opinion that death was duo to heart failure. INVERCARGILL TRAMWAY FATALITY. Invercargill, September 24. The inquest on Frederick Smith. the victim of the tramway fatality on Saturday, was opened to day. Medical evidence was given to the effect that death was caused by shock following on! injuries received. The evidence rf witnesses was conflicting; as to the length of time that.. Smith was under the car before being released, tbe estimates varying up to about twentylive minutes. The delay was regarded as serious bv the medical witnesses, who slated that the chance of recovery was thereby considerably lessened; There are still several witnesses to be examined. CHILD KILLED BY A TRAIN. Christchurch, September 24. The police authorities received information to-night that, a child had been killed at Soften by the North express the previous evening.
