Providing that sufficient inducement offers, a professional sculling handicap will be held on tlie Whnganui River during Christmas week. The promoters stipulate ' that tlie event must bo confined to New Zealand .scullers. The motives underlying the proposal arc to give champion strip aspirants an opportunity of showing that they possess pace and slaying power sufficient to warrant enthusiast;? taking them in hand with the object of bringing the title back to Now Zealand.-
