THE MOTHER OF NATIONS.
o AX IMPERIAL BROTHERHOOD. (Received 9 a.m.) Ottawa, September 10. Sir 0 eorge Reid, speaking at a banquet to Mr Borden, said Ministers when in London were admitted to the very Arcada of Empire, trusted with secrets of the highest importance, and made to feel everywhere that they were members of an Imperial Brotherhood. When one thought of the great stretches of seas that divided, as avgll as united, the Empire one could not but be affected by the thought of the great problem of Defence, but the race that built up the. Empire should be able to maintain it in future. Sir George Reid was loudly cheered on saying that those who talked of the Mother of Nations being dead or dying were entirely mistaken, and if the period came Britons would be true to their stock.
