THE MEAT TRUST,

The Legislative Council discussed the American meat trust. Mr McWhae warned the Council that it had already been established in Brisbane under the guise of the Australian Meat Company. Now it was after 7.V millions of sheep and lambs to be shipped from Australasia and unless the Parliaments realise the danger and thwarted the Trust, it would get them.
BURGLARS HAVE HIGH TIME. Sydney, September 10. Burglars secured £lO at Judge Fitzhardinge’s house. Another gang entered Williams’ (Bamboo Manufacturer), but were disappointed. There was no money in the safe, but the burglars regaled themselves with whisky and cigars. l PROTEST TO MILITARISM. The Broken Hill Miners Association, as a protest to militarism, have declined to participate in the Hospital Sunday demonstrations if the cadets are included. The committee decided to expunge the cadets; thereupon the hand and master builders in the Association refused to join. The committee is in a quandary.
