FATAL COINCIDENCE.

Auckland, May 21. A fatal accident occurred in Beach Road to-night, when Henry Alexander, a retired sea captain, aged 74 years, mot his death through being knocked over by a tram car. Some little lime ago Alexander fell off a tram car, receiving such injuries as necessitated his detention in the hospital, and this was his first time out. He' was vcrv short-sighted, especially at dusic. pra as he was crossing the road he tailed to notice the approaching car. Ha was knocked down. He was taken to a chemist’s shop, where a doctor pronounced life extinct.
