Reports of the drought in the Murray and Mnrruinhidgee districts are alarming. There lias been no rain in tee Murray Valley since the New Year. The position i-s the worst that has been experienced for a long period. Hand feeding is being extensively resorted to to keep stock alive. One owner has spent over £20,000 on feed, and others are sending stock to more favoured districts. it is feared that the winter cold will result in great mortality of the emaciated animals, particularly with breeding ewes. The outlook of pastoral sts is -gloomy.
