On Thursday, 2nd inst., I had a. large attendance at Mr Walter Chatterton’s clearing sale, on the Kent Road. Competition for unbroken horses was keen, every one being sold at the hammer. Good hacks and harness horses also met good competition, and sold, well. Inferior sorts were dull of sale, no enquiry. My Rahotu yards, on Tuesday,' were well filled with cattle, the majority jhcing weanors and cows. The former, of which about 200 were yarded, were a poor lot. Bidding at the start was slack, but improved during the sale, practically everything being cleared during the day. A nice lino of 20months, well done Jcrsey-Holstein in calf heifers, realised, after- spirited competition, £6. Other prices were: Mixed weanors to yearlings, best, £1 7s 6d to £1 14s; poor, 14s to 1 £1 3s Gd; heifers, coloured, £1 IGs, £2 12s; others, £1 to £1 9s; steers, best, £1 6s to £1 lls (id; poor, 0s Gd to 15s; 18-months steers, £2 15s to £3 Is; 18-months in calf heifers, small, £2 15s to £3 Is; empty 20-month heifers, £3 Os Gd to £3 ss; springing heifers, small £4 2s Gd to £4 10s; store cows, £2 3s to £3 7s 6d; forward cows, £4 to £4 7s; fat cows, £4 16s; old, £1 to £1 15s; baconor pigs, £2 12s Gd.
