PAPUA’S PROGRESS.
SATISFACTORY INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT. JAVANESE LABOURERS. Sydney, May 8. ' The Lieutenant-Governor of Papua, who is visiting Sydney, states that the industrial developments in the possession are proceeding satisfactorily, and prospects are very bright. The Administration is introducing Javanese labourers for a term of three years for the purpose of teaching the natives ■ to tap, rubber and cut sisal hemp. Plenty of native labour is available, but 'it is deficient in skill, which the Javanese will impart.
