(Received, 1, 10.30 a,m.) Sydney, ' May ' 1. Mr Griffith has arranged to purchase State sawmills and joinery works at a cost of £50,000. Brisbane, April 30. 'A'new four-storeyed building in Edward and Mary Streets,'' occupied by the Queensland Agency as' : & Wholesale dry goods store, was destroyed by fire. The damage is estiniated at £45,000, which is covered 'by insurance. A number of man-o'-.warsmen from the gunboat Gayundah were standing on the roof of ah adjoining building, assisting the brigade, when part of a wall fell on them. Walter Oldham was killed, and Alexander Smith injured.
