GARRISON TO REMAIN IN THE COUNTRY. (Received 26, 10.15 a.m.) Capetown, April 25. Lord Methven at a farewell banquet, said Lord Haldane shared his feeling that the South African garrison ought not to be reduced until the South Africans were of age and able unaided to guard the country, occupying such an important strategical position.
