THE TERRITORIALS.
DISFRANCHISEMENT MOOTED. (Per Press Association.) Greymoutli, April 16. At the Chamber of Commerce meeting last evening the President (Mr. Felix Campbell) moved: “That this Chamber expresses its appreciation ol the Minister of Defence’s action in regard to tlie administration of the Defence Act, and that if it be desirable to eliminate tlie existing penal clauses from the Act that in lieu thereof the parent or guardian of any boy who refuses to take tlie oath of allegiance or enrol be disfranchised from taking part in any election, and lose all right of citizenship in the Dominion ; and, further, that any boy refusing, against the wish of bis parents, to enrol, shall, at the age of 21 years, he disfranchised from all rights oi citizenship. The motion was carried unanimously, and a copy Avas ordered to be iorAvarded to the Minister of Defence. The proximity of tlie camp Avas shown to-day by the appearance on the mail train of a number of Territorials in uniform from the north. A squad of men from H. Company, Stratford, also wont doAvn, as an “advance guard” to assist in pitching tents, and fixing up the camp generally for the small army that A\ill arrive later.
