By slow and very easy stages the candidates for the Stratford Mayoralty are unfolding themselves, and last night Mr B. McK. Morison announced definitely that he is a candidate for the office. The meeting called by Mr Morison cannot be sard to have bubbled over with enthusiasm, or to have indicated anything at all but the ratepayers’ utter indifference to Mr Morison’s views—or else to municipal politics in general. Wo certainly would like to see more outward signs of interest in matters municipal, because the coming year ought to be an important one in the Borough progress. Fisc where wo pub-
lisli a summary ul' Stratford llorough’s financial position as disclosed by tJit* annual balance-sheets for several years past: if the ratepayers arc not too apathetic they may liud something of interest in the comparison placed liefore them. Nominations for tin* .Mayoralty will close at noon to-morrow, possibly a “dark horse” may ho trotted out. Wo hope so: it would at any rate have an .invigorating effect. However, in any ease Mr 3VI orison is not to he permitted to gain the chair unopposed, for this morning we learn that Mr J. McAllister is to contest the position and as ho ;s held in high esteem by many he is hound to receive very solid support.
