The miners at Leigh, Lancashire, entertained the soldiers sent to maintain order. The soldiers to-day marched to church headed by the Leigli naval and army veterans’ band. Two hundred eaginemen at Bargold have resumed. The enginemen at Cwyman colliery, Aberdare, are resuming to-morrow. The district committee of the Transport Workers’ Federation and the executive of the Dockers’ Union passed a resolution denouncing irresponsible statements of the possibilities of a general strike of transport workers early in the summer, and added that they did not intend to discuss the question. THE WOOLLEN INDUSTRY. Christchurch, April 13. Mr P. Kerens, manager of the Kaiapoi Clothing Factory, has submitted proposals to the Technical College for the training of girls handling machines in the woollen and clothing trades. He told the College Board that the industry in Christchurch was on the verge of a crisis, owing to tho shortage .of hands. The board referred the question to a committee.
