THE MATAMATA SHOW.

The annual Show of the Matamata A. and P. Association was held on March 28th, in beautiful weather. The entries showed great improvement. Horses were shown in decreased numbers, but cattle, on the contrary, showed a decided advance, both in numbers and quality. The horse classes were well nlled, and some splendid light horses were shown.; The draughts, too, wore a very creditable exhibit for the district. Pigs were strongly represented, showing that the farmers of Matamata, like those in other portions of the district, are paying strici attention to this valuable adjunct to the dairying industry.' As might nave been expected in a district devoted almost soioly to milk producing, sheep were not the strongest feature of the Show, but thougli tne competition was somewhat restricted, the animals shown were excellent specimens aud true to type. The home industries proved a most attractive section, and while it was a very creditable display, it is still capable of considerable expansion. Three rings were employed in the work of judging and the work was completed a few minutes before the train left at 4.30.
