A Maori child named Ngaro Hamu era, whose parents live at Petane, iva; admitted to the hospital yesterday suffering from the effects of earbolh acid poisoning. The child swallowct the poison and died three-quarters o. an hour afterwards J A collision between a motor cyclt and an ordinary bicycle occurred a Taradale yesterday, resulting in tin rider of the motor cycle, George Grant, sustaining a compound fracture cf th, jaw and a broken nose. The rider of the bicycle, named Walker, wa:severely shaken. Christchurch, March 31. Colin Simpson, a son of Mr W. A Simpson, accountant, of this city, died suddenly o-n the beach at Sumner yesterday. Simpson, who was about 18 years of age, was playing bar-the-door with several other young men. when he suddenly fell exhausted ami did not recover. When the local constable arrived on the scene he was dead. The death is supposed to be due to heart failure. Reefton, March 30. A stranger, supposed to lie named Michael Sullivan, went out on the Bin River this morning aftir breakfast, and was later found face downward: n a creek with his throat cut. Auckland, April 1. The body of George Arthur Arey. 39, single, was found on Shelly Beach yesterday, fully dressed. He live:: with his three sisters on Shelly Beach, Road, Ponsonby, and was last seen alive at ten o'clock on Saturday night. He had suffered from nerve trouble for the past few weeks and had been very despondent for a few days. He was employed by Wildman and Arey, stationers. Westport, April 1. Wm. Wastney, farm labourer, was found dead at Tauranga 'lay with a pea rifle hot ween his legs.
