A 'special general meeting .was held prior to the general meeting, when a notice of motion, proposed by the Clifton Chib and seconded by the Stratford Club, was carried, that bylaw No. 5 be altered by the deletion of the word Western and the substitution of Saturday. The committee presented the following report:— In presenting their annual report the committee have the pleasure of again congratulating the Clubs on a successful year. During the season your representative team undertook the 1 southern tour, fulfilling engagements with Canterbury, Otago and Southland. The trip also included a visit to Greymouth, on the West Coast of the South Island. Record wins' were recorded against Wellington, Canterbury and Otago, the match against Southland was won, and a loss was sustained- in the match with the West Coast Union. Your representatives speak highly of tin hospitable manner in which they were treated while on tour. Other matches played wore against Wanganui (2), both won; Moans, won; North Island touring team, won ; and against Auckland, lost. Altogether, 10 matches were played, only two being lost. The Provincial Championship matches resulted as under: Seniors, Okaiawa ; First Juniors, Haxvera; Second Juniors, Waimate. ’ The “Alf. Bayly Memorial Scholarship” was won this year by Master Charles Crone, of the New Plymouth High Schooh Your committee deplore the fact that in South Taranaki very little interest ri taken in the scholarship. At present tjio larger number of the competitors come from Stratford and New Plymouth, other schools competing in addition to the two already named being Tariki and Ngaire. ' The balancesheet shows a surplus of liabilities over assets of £2l. Considering the magnitude of the sputhern tour, , and the- ivery wet ■weather’experienced on 'the' day 1 of the Ahckjlhnd' Match, oxir financial position must be deemed very satisfactory. Should reasonable weather be experienced during the approaching sets on, we should have a ■gbod : ' Ofetlit 1 ha'laiibo ‘at t the end of the financialyear. Visits from the following Unions are expected this season: Southland,-Otago, Canterbury, Wellington, Manawatu, and probably South' Auckland and Nelson/Visits will’ W ’made by our team to Wanganui and Auckland. Last season two new clubs were affiliated, viz., Rovers (New Plymouth) and Qkato. These two clubs, together with the Star seniors played a Saturday' competition, the Stars being victorious. It is hoped that ere long a universal , half-holiday will be observed in Taranaki, and that all the competitions will be played on the one day. The balance-sheet showed that receipts during the year totalled £699 8s 7d, and that the balance at the end of the year was £ls 3s 3d. Liabilities exceeded assets by £2O 18s lid, and the debit on the Rugby Union Loan Account was reduced to ,£225. The report and balance-sheet xvere adopted.
