THE SINGER FRAUDS.
BEOWX AND MACPHEESOX IX THE POLICE COURT. LARGE AMOUNT IXVOLVED. Sydney, March 18. The trial of Brown and Macpherson, charged with consp’Ting to defraud tho Singer Sowing Machine Company of £12,7-14, was commenced to-day. The evidence showed that Brown, ns general manager, received a salary of £4OOO per annum. His account becoming largely overdrawn, he adopted a system of book-keeping and alteration of landing charges by which his deficit was wiped out. thereby defrauding the company of the amount named.
