><■-. i"i |. if ) !( \r: , i..i,,. kr The men of 0 Section of the 4th Field Ambulance, who recently went into camp at Seatoun, returned to Stratford on Saturday evening. Then are loud in their praises of the camp, and consider the trip as one of tire best holidays they have had for” a long time. All told, there were ao ° 120 men at Seatoun, comprising the Taranaki, Stratford',,.Welling!'' ■■ • i’aslerton sections, Captain Holmes, of Wellington, being Wie ofheer la charge.. One of the. men who made the trip told our representative this morning that ho would go back again to-morrow if he got the chance. Apparently liberal leave had. been allowed, as ho mentioned seeing two of the attractions that Mins Ethel Irving and her company were producing in the city. Captain Carbery’s popularity was a feature of the camp. * A visit was made by General Godley. and the fort, under which the tentf were pitched, wont through some special evolutions for the occasion, firing a salute and afterwards giving an exhibition of their powers in blowing up rooks. Surf batlnim, swimming races, and sports provided excellent recreation. “We 3 1 ad a military funeral,” he added. This was rather sad news, but it proved on enquiry nob to be a casualty in camp. “You see,” he went on,_ “the pudding was the absolute I mit. We formed a procession, said the burial service over it. planted it the bugler played the “Last Post,” and the ceremony was done.” Apparently the cook was not a success. FIRST WAIKATO CAMP. Hamilton, March 18. The first Waikato Territorial camp broke up yesterday. Good work was done. The camp was visited by the Governor and General Godley.
