THE HIMITANGI.
SALVAGE STEAMER LEAVES

Christchurch, March 12
The coastal steamer Gertie, equipped with salvage gear, left Lyttelton at 8 p.m. on Saturday foi the Chatham Islands, where she will assist in the attempt to refloat the Hinutangi. Captain Manley went in charge of the Gertie, Captain Rogers accompanying the vessel as mate. Mr Walker, Lloyd’s surveyor, was a passenger by the vessel. The Himitangi’s owners are sanguine of getting the vessel afloat.
