SUCCESSFULLY FORMED IST STRATFORD. INTERESTING" INFORMATION. Mr Charles Downey writes to the ■editor as follows : Perhaps the following information may be of interest to the readers of your paper:— Believing the time opportune for the establishing of a Stratford Poultry, Pigeon, and Canary Show, a Society of x>oultry men has already been formed and much enthusiasm manifested. The following gentlemen have already accepted offices in the Society: Patron, Mr J. B. Hine, M.P.; president, His Worship the Mayor, Mr J. Masters; vice-presidents, Messrs W. J). Anderson, P. Thomson, S. Ward; while we are awaiting replies from others. It lias been decided to hold our first show on Wednesday and Thursday, July 3rd and 4th, in the Town Hall. The Society has affiliated with the North Island Poultry Association, and will be granted one or two North Island Poultry Championships. The show is not to bo confined to poultry alone, as we are adding a root crop exhibition and other farmers’ classes. We also purpose holding a baby show, which wo believe will be quite a novelty. To date, 33 special prizes have been promised, ranging from 2 cwt of manure to a beautiful shawl. Membership of the Society lias been ■fixed at 2s Gd per year, on which payment ft person can become a member, provided other things are in order. Altogether a great treat is promised Stratford on July 3rd and 4th. Schedules will be out in the course of ft few weeks. Any further information can |ie had from the secretary.
