(Per Press Association.) Auckland, February 23. In the Supreme Court Frank Vincent, an Italian, charged with indecently assaulting four boys, de'scribed by Mr Justice Edwards as a man who ought not to be at large, was sentenced to imprisonment for five years with hard labour for each offence, cumulative, equivalent to 20 years. The Judge said he felt it his duty to impose a substantial sentence, leaving it to a higher authority to reduce the 'sentence if thought fit. Tn the Supreme Court Kund Bergman, charged with theft of hats from the cargo of the steamer Mahino, was sentenced to one year’s imprisonment, Judge Edwards said the continued wharf thefts were a serious matter. Me understood the loss thereby ran into thousands of pounds annually. The police found that in every instance where accused was employed cargo was missing from vessels. This was prisoner’s first conviction. While tilings remained as they were on no account would any theif from a vessel ho admitted to probation. Those offences had become scandalous .
