(Per Press Association.) Wanganui, February 21. At the Supreme Court this morning Carl Frederick Zeigler, found ;uilty of stabbing at Mangaweka, was sentenced to twelve months’ hard la>our in the New Plymouth gaol. The Jhief Justice said the statute provid--3d a maximum penalty of imprisonnent for life, but in view of prison3r’s previous good character he imposed a light sentence. George Stewart, for theft, with a long list of previous convictions, received six months’ imprisonment And yvas declared an habitual criminal.
