SIX-DAY CYCLE CONTEST. Melbourne, February 19. The six days’ cycling contest started at midnight. A great crowd of spectators, num bering 10,000, were watching throug: the night. At the end of twelve hours the teams were well together, and hat covered 256 miles. (Received 20, 9,15 a.m.) Melbourne, February 20. In the six days’ cyclist covered 447 miles in twenty-three hours—thirteen miles ahead of Sydney. FOOTBALLERS STAY AT HOME (Received 20, 10.45 a.m.) Loudon, February 19. The “Athletic News” states that the footballers W. Farnsworth, Hal lett, Darmody, Francis, and Gilbert have joined English clubs.
