(Received 10, 11.50 a.m.) Hobart, February 10. There is a water famine at Launceston owing to a fall of the tunnel at St. Patrick’s River, which is the source of supply. The water is completely cut off. Business is dislocated and the sanitary system stopped. (Received 10, 11.50 a.m.) Melbourne, February 10. The sugar crop in New South Wales and Queensland is considerably below the estimate, being in New South Wales 10,700 tons, and in Queensland 163,637. Largely increased imports will he necessary as a result of having the bounty increased. The Customs duty net gain to the Treasury will ho £140,000.
