CRICKET SELECTORS’ FIGHT.

Melbourne, February 5
Saturday’s embroglio in Sydney between Hill and Macalister is generally discussed. “ Macalister declines to say anything. Hill states that, during tlie meeting, bv criticising his captaincy, saying it was tlie worst that lie had ever seen. Hill remarked: “Repeat that, and I’ll pull your nose.” Macalister persisted, and Hill slapped him on tlie back with his hands. Macalister retaliated and tho fight occupied ten minutes. Hill immediately wrote his resignation on the selectorship, and declines to act on tho committee with Macalister. The Board of Control meets shortly to consider the embroglio. ' The members of the Board of Control decline to say anything about tho trouble between Hill and Macalister, both of whom have left for Melbourne. , It is understood the cause of tne outbreak was Macalister’s wire to Hill during the third test match that it Macartney was chosen Hill should stand out. (Received 6, 10.5 a.m.) Melbourne, February 6. Hill admits that he fought Macahster at the meeting of selectors. He states that he was aggravated beyond endurance. Macalister declares that Hill attacked him without warning. Hill says the six players are still aetermined to oppose the Board of '■ control's appointment of a manager. They want Laver. Sydney, February 6. A special meeting of the Board of Control has been called to consider and report on the Hill-Macalister fracas. ARNST TO ROW BARRY. j Sydney, February 5. Arnst, speaking at a social function, announced that ho had accepted the challenge issued by Barry on September 21 to row for the championship of tho world and £SOO aside. He has hooked a passage to England, leaving Sydney at the end of March. The race is to be rowed at tho end of August or early in September. lArnst accepts the offer of £SOO expenses, if no more is forthcoming, but hopes to get at least £750.
