TAKA! U JNA MKKT J U. (Per Press Association.! Auckland, January 28. The Takapuna Jockey Club’s summer meeting was opened yesterday in excellent weather, and with a good attendance. The course was in good order, and the sum of £18,945 passed through the totalisator, as against slightly, less than £IO,OOO for the first day or last year’s meeting. Results:— Hauraki Handicap Maiden Hurdles, of 100 sovs; H miles and 100 yards,— D. Moragllah’s Master Theory, SoultRomala, 9.2 (Bennett), 1; T. Cunningham’s Matarere, 9.10, 2; T. Barr’s Lloyds, 9.3, 3. Also started: Captain Paul, Westerley, Bon Cyr, Crispineer, Atahaere, Bright Shot, and Field Marshall. Won by four lengths. Time, 2 min 50 2-ssec. Takapuna Cup (Handicap), of 400 sovs; one mile and three furlongs.— James Roulston’s 'Soultoria, Soult— Pretoria, *B.6' (Decley), 1; 11. H. Duder’s La Reina, 6.8, 2; D. Kemp’s Jolie Fille, 6.13, 3. Also started: Elcctraboff, Sea Elf, Ngapuka, Sir Artcgal, St. Amans, Gloy, Spectre, Waiofcahi, Aristocrat, and Taketuma. Won by three parts of a length, with Jolie Fille a neck away third. Gloy was fourth. Time, 2min 30sec. Ferry Handicap, of 100 sovs; four and a half furlongs.—J. Mulloy’s Surplus. Wairaki—Bonus, 7.11 (Ayres), 1; I. Williamson’s Royal Irish, 7.11, 2"; E.
