Dunedin, January 26
Sydney Charles Mitchell, aged 15 years, the eldest son of Mr J. W. Mitchell, tailor, of ‘ Balclutha, was drowned to-day while bathing at Kaka Point, on the Port Molyneux Beach. Deceased and several other boys were bathing, when Mitchell got out of his depth. He was soon brought to shore, but too lato, strenuous efforts by Dr Fitzgerald failing to restore animation. Deceased was a bright lad, and had achieved distinction in all subjects at school. Invercargill, January 26. <
At the inquest on the body of Edward Rodgers, who was found dead on bis bed on "Wednesday, the medical evidence was that death was duo to suffocation, probably caused by the deceased falling on his bed in a lit (to which he was subject) and burying his face in the pillow.
