ANOTHER WIN FOR ENGLAND

The weather was overcast but the wicket good for the continuation of the match between England and Tasmania. The game, was concluded in the afternoon, being won by England by eight wickets. Tasmania’s second innings occupied 212 minutes and was generally uninteresting. Light showers fell, but subsequently the weather was fine and bright. The attendance was small. England got the required runs to win in 31) minutes, losing two wickets for 56 runs. Hearne got 34, including two sixes, by sparkling battling. Scores;— TASMANIA. The Cricket Board of Control meets on February 2 to deal with the players’ protests and other matters. ’ / HAWERA V. STRATFORD. Yesterday the Stratford Club played Hawora on the Bayly Ground, at Hawera. The match was a fairly contested one, the home team securing the verdict by fifteen runs on the first innings. For Stratford, Boyes made a good stand, and played well for his runs. He was beautifully caught when the other side of twenty h}' Pratt at mid-on. Dunlop got going in usual style till bowled, in attempting to pull, by a dong hop. E. Jackson was unfortunate in being injured oji the hand by a rising ball, the grass wicket at one end making such casualties the order of the day. For Hawera, Pratt played a lively innings, hut was twice missed in the field. The following are the scores :
