THE CRICKET MANAGER

Hill has received the Board of Control’s reply to the cricketers’ protest. It points out that the Board’s representative will not be paid by the players. It denies that the players are not allowed to appoint their own manager. It adds: “The Board desires to send the best team to England, but- not to permit any number of cricketers to dictate the terms and conditions of the visit or how the manager shall be appointed. FAMOUS YACHT SOLD. (Received 26, 9.20 aim.) Melbourne, January 26. •The yacht Sayonara has been sold to Mr Ross, Sydney.
BOUND FOR OLYMPIA
Auckland, January 25
At a meeting last night to go into the question of raising funds to send Auckland’s crack distance runner, G. N. Hill, to Sweden to compete as a New Zealand representative in the Olympic Games, it was decided that the matter be taken in hand by the committee of the Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club and that subscription lists bo opened, and circulars explaining the object issued. The sum of £l5O is required, but it is hot anticipated that therer will be any difficulty in raising this amount.
