Tripoli, January 22. The Italians have occupied the oasis at Gagaresh. The Turkish losses on Thursday were 150 killed and a great number severely wounded.

FRANCE ANGRY WITH ITALY

Paris, January 22. The authorities at Tunis seized the steamer Odessa, owing to the possession of forged papers and 350 tons of ammunition, which she failed to land on the Tripolitan coast, and sent her under a naval escort to Bazert i. M. Poiucaire contends that the French, and not the Italian authorities, are entitled to verify the Turkish passengers’ credentials, and that the arrest between two neutral ports is illegal, inasmuch as the Convention of London, drawn in 1909, has not yot been, ratified. He claim* the liberation of the Manouba’s Turkish passengers. Italy has refused.

M. Poiucaire insists upon reparation for the stoppage of tlio Carthage and the Manouba. The Daily Chronicle’s Paris correspondent hints at the possibility of a naval demonstration.

THE RED CROSS TURKS ON THE MANOUBA.

Rome, January 22. It is semi-officially announced that the Turks aboard the Manouba vainly attempted to charter a yacht at Marseilles for the purpose of landing on a desert spot at Tunis or Tripoli. They, wore found in possession of two small cases of surgical instruments and a small quantity of medicaments. Doctors arc now examining thorn with a view to establishing their status.
