MAY SOUTH WALES COMMISSION ON TOUR. PALMERSTON SITTINGS. fPer Press Association.) Palmerston, January. 16. The Totalisator Commission concluded its sittings to-day in Palmerston North, the evidence being on the lines previously given in other parts. The Commission proceeds to Wellington tomorrow. Four witnesses were examined to-day, including a member of the Sports Protection Association. One of the Commissioners expressed regret that the people who were supposed to safeguard the morals of the community did not come forward to give evidence.
The Commission concluded the taking of evidence at Palmerston.,to-day, and leaves for Wellington to-morrow. The local sittings of the Commission were not open to the press, but the evidence was almost entirely favourable to the totalisator.
