QUARTERLY RETURNS.

The quarterly returns from the Stratford Magistrate’s Court show that during the quarter ending December 31st, 1911, ton sittings presided over by a Stipendiary Magisvaio, and 21 by Justices of the Peace, had been held. Seventy-four civil cases hadleen heard, £1123 3s Gd had been sued for and £707 12s 2d had been recovered. Onp hundred and thirty--me plaints were entered, 13 distress warrants, 35 Judgment summonses, and 3 warrants t of commitment were issued. One hundred and ninety-three processes were executed by the bailiff and his assistants during the quarter, and £8,7 12s was collected for civil fees. In the criminal class 106 males and seven females were taken into custody, summoned and apprehended. Fines amounting to £7O 18s were inflicted, two old-age pensions were granted, and one refused.
