WALL STREET FIRE.
TOTAL DEATH ROLL INCREASED TO SIX. RUINS CASED IN FIRE. (Received 11, 1.10 pirn) Now York, January 10. In the Equitable Assurance Cc.s building fire six lives were losts. Three employees who were on the roof were cut off and perished. One leaped to the pavement below, being killed. President Gihlin, who took refuge in the vault was rescued after the steel bars had been sawn through. Ho was overcome by smoke and was removed to the hospital. Fire Chief Walsh is dead. Another employee who sought refuge in the vault with Gihlin was also rescued. A third was seen from the street buried in debris and the lire brigade chaplain gave him the last rites before the smoke hid him. The body has not yet been recovered. The fate of several million dollars’ worth of securities is not yet ascertained. The fire broke out in a kitchen in the basement. Intense cold caused ice to form and bury the structure, making an extraordinary spectacle of ruins cased in ice.
