DOMINION NEWS.
(Por Press Association.) Auckland, January 5. A chance visit cf a constable to a camp near Henderson to-day led to the discovery of two men suffering from serious injury. The camp was inhabited by gumdiggers, and the constable found in a hut an elderly gumdigger lying unconscious in a pool of blood. The man, whoso name is George Fry, has sustained severe injuries to his head, apparently cause by a bottle. The constable found Jack Denny, also a gunldiggel',- lying On the ground with blood issuing from severe wounds on his head. He stated he sustained the injuries by falling down. The serious condition of Fry rendered his removal to the hospital imperative. Denny was arrested and charged with assaulting Fry. Palmerston, January 5. Glen Oroua Dairy Co. received the following cablegram from Weddel and Co., London, to-day:—“First grade New r Zealand salted butter 1365,, Danish 1375. The market is excited, and further advances arc expected.”
