SOUTH SEA CYCLONE.' (Per Press Association) Auckland, .January; 2. The Talune which arrived from Fiji to-day reports that the hurricane at the end of last month did great damage to the banana crops of the islands. It is expected that this will affect future shipments of bananas. JAPANESE TRAINING SHIPS. Auckland, January 2. Flying the Japanese flag and firing a salute of 21 guns as they entered the port,. the two Japanese warships Aso and Soya arrived to-day from Suva. The vessels, which were captured from the Russians in 1904, will remain a week here and then proceed to Sydney. Roar-Admiral Kato is in command. NEWS BY WIRELESS. Wellington, January 2. Wireless reports to hand to-night are to the effect that the Tllimaroa expects to arrive’ in Wellington from Sydney at 7 o’clock to-morrow morning, and that the Aorangi expects to arrive from ’Frisco at 6 : o’clock on Thursday morning.
