fper Press Association.) Now Plymouth, January 2. Persistent reports are circulated that a syndicate is purchasing the Taranaki Petroleum Coy. as agents of the Standard Oil Co. A representative of the Taranaki “Herald” interviewed Mr Brown, chairman of the British Empire Oilfields, who gives the report an emphatic denial, stating that the Standard Oil Co. is not interested in the company, which is solely British with no foreign directors or shareholders. The directors of the new company will also he all British, including a New Zealand board of four.
