EVIDENCE GIVEN OF SUSPICIOUS ENQUIRIES. CIPHER LETTERS FOUND. (Received 6, 10.25 a.m.) London, December 5. The German officer arrested at Portsmouth for espionage is Captain Heinrich Gross!. Evidence was given that be made elaborate enquiries concerning coal supplies, also as to the number of men in barracks. The police discovered cipher letters. Grossl was remanded. Bail was not allowed.
