SUGGESTED STATE LOTTERY. Sydney, December 5. In the Assembly Mr. Osborne moved to introduce a Bill to provide, a State lottery similar to Tattersall’s. The debate was adjourned, SHIP POSTED LOST. Sydney, December 5. It is now believed that the Mary Isabel, eighty-eight days out from Whangape to Sydney, has foundered with all hands. The Acting-Superin-tendent of Navigation has opened an enquiry, particularly into the personnel of the crew and how tho vessel foundered. WHARF LABOURERS. Sydney, December 5. Shipowners and wharf labourers agreed to a tea hour from 5 to 6 o’clock, work to resume at 6. This has been tho big bone of contention, and the only thing now requiring settlement is the question of pay and overtime. NEW SOUTH WALES FLOODS. Sydney, December 5.
There are floods in the western districts, and at Young the railway is covered with debris for a considerable distance. A mixed train was derailed while travelling slowly, but nobody was injured. FEDERAL PARLIAMENT OPENED Melbourne, December 5. Parliament was opened by commission. The Speech from the Throne was short, and said Parliament was called together to make provision for services for the year, to deal with the Public Works Loan Application Bill, and measures for authorising tho construction of important railway lines.
