BUTTER AND CHEESE.
PALMERSTON AWARDS. Taranaki dairy factories were fairly prominent in the butter and cheese '"classes at the Palmerston Winter Show. In the class for best box of export factory butter the Stratford Co. wore awarded 93. V points as against 94 giveli to the winners. Four other factories also scored 93}, each being given 44} points for flavour as against the winner’s 45, the points for body and for colour, salting and finish being the same in the case of each of the .hirst six factories. Other Taranaki factories scored as follows: Bell Block 92, Kaponga 88}, Lepperton ' 11}, Mells 91}, Midhirst 91, Maketawa 92}, Tikorangi 92}, Uruti 92. Tikorangi was placed third in the class for best box of butter made by i factory or manager who has never won a prize valued at £5, with 93 points, other Taranaki competitors be-, mg: 1 Bell Block 92, Kaponga 88, River dale 92, Uruti 92. Tikorangi (94) and Uruti (93}) were first and second in the class for managers who had never won a prize at. the show. Bell Block and Riverdalo ; (92) also competed, j.fofyf | thew.classi. .for,.. members; ] of . .the , Dairy Factory Managers’ Association, (ho Taranaki factory got on the prizelist, the points scored by each being: Bell Block 92, Kaponga 88}, Lepperton 91}, Mangorei 88, Midhirst ,?|l, Riverdalo 92. The conditions were similar in the class for a box of butter from bulk. The winner (Bunnythorpe) was award-, ed 94 points, the Taranaki points being:- 801 l Block 92}, Lepperton 93, Midhirst 88}. In the class for three cases of full ;9Vpam Now Zealand cheddar-shaped cheese (coloured) Kaponga (Rowan) was placed third, being a point and a |\alf behind the winner. Kaponga scored 90, Kakaramea 90, and Oao.nui 90}. . , For three cases of white cheese Kaponga (Rowan) and Kaponga tied for first place with 93} points. Kakaramea scored 90, Ngairo 90, Oaonui 00 and Tariki 91}. In the class open only to members of the Dairy Factory Managers’ Association Oaonui was second with 94 points, half a point behind the win- , nor. Kaponga scored 91}. Ngairo was first with 95} points in the class for fully matured choose (any colour), other Taranaki figures .being: Kaponga 91}, Oaonui 93}. ‘ Kaponga was first in the class for two host loaf cheeses.
