A young m<m named Frederick Gallagher, employed at Wilson's cement works at Maitaitai, met his death there to-day. lie was employed attending to machinery, and by some means, at present unknown, became entangled in the gear. His cries attracted the attention of his fellow-workmen, who were engaged in outside duties, and on rushing into the machine room, they found that one of Gallagher's legs had been completely cut off, whilst the other one was crushed to pulp. Before medical assistance arrived the unfortunate man died. Christchurch. Last Night. On the 7.10 a.in. trip from Sum Her this morning, Afotonnau Musgravc, driver of the ear, mot with a serious accident, which necessitated his removal to the hospital, whera it was found he was suffering from concussion of the brain and a fractured skull.
